The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro lineup will cruise into dealerships later this year with a fresh new look and the return of the Z/28, the most iconic model ever produced. With high-performance aerodynamics and efficient cooling and stability at high speeds, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is the most track capable, factory built offering in the model’s history.
Mark Reuss, president of GM North America, said it best: “As the ultimate track-capable Camaro, this car restores the mission of the original Z/28, and serves as a testament to the expertise of Chevrolet as the best-selling brand of performance cars. The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight, high-revving, dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers for track use; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”
The original Camaro Z/28 was introduced over 45 years and was created to compete for racing purposes in the Sports Car Club of America’s Trans-Am 2 class. The new Z/28 is geared solely on track capability. Just like the 1967 model, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is only available with a manual transmission and does not come with standard air conditioning. As a nod to modern convenience, that is an option which can be added on.
