These days, we are all feeling the pain at the pump; especially those of us who love to cruise in a crossover or SUV. With a family too big to fit into a compact car, our fuel savings each year are often sacrificed for more legroom. I’d love to spend say, just $1,900 a year on gas for my crossover. Luckily, the 2013 Buick Encore is about to make all of my gasoline-fueled dreams come true.
As the most fuel-efficient crossover created by a domestic manufacturer, the 2013 Buick Encore’s combined 28 miles-per-gallon is above comparison. In fact, compared to other new cars, drivers can expect to save around $2,100 in gas over a course of five years with the 2013 Encore. Topping every other domestic automaker in the industry, the Buick Encore reaps 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
These numbers beat out both the 2013 Ford Escape and the Jeep Compass, but the Encore doesn’t stop there. Direct-import cars are also left in the dust by the 2013 Encore; the Mini Countryman S and VW Tiguan are easily surpassed in fuel efficiency. What’s more, the Encore is designed to work on run-of-the-mill unleaded gasoline, while the direct-import cars stress the use of more expensive premium fuel.
Buick Vehicle Chief Engineer Jim Danahy said, “Right from its inception, Encore was designed to offer customers the safety and comfort expected of any Buick, but with an added emphasis on space and fuel efficiency.”
