Chevrolet is known for its durable pickup options, like the mid-size Chevrolet Colorado, the full-size Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and the heavy duty Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD. But coming this March to the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis are two work trucks like no others: the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD.
These massive trucks will be motivated by high-performance Duramax diesel engines mated to Allison transmissions, and drivers will be able to get their new Silverado 4500HD or 5500HD in regular or crew cab configurations, either on a 2WD or 4WD platform. Available GVWRs and wheelbases will vary.
From the teaser image, it is clear that these mammoth trucks will feature fog lights as large as the headlights, a wider stance, and turn signals integrated into the side mirrors. We also know that in-cabin tech will include OnStar services, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and telematics offerings.
“The Silverado 4500HD/5500HD trucks are the flagship of our full-line commercial truck portfolio, and we’ve designed them to be among the best in the industry in maneuverability, serviceability, visibility, quietness and comfort, diesel fuel economy, and more,” commented Ed Peper, General Motors Fleet VP, in a statement.
Until the Work Truck Show, which will be held from March 6 through March 9, the details will be slim. Either way, we will be keeping an eye out, so check back with Bill Harris GM at that time for more information.
