As the winter recedes and spring blooms, many of us will take a spring break trip to enjoy the warmer weather. If you plan on taking a road trip, you should prepare your car so that it can easily tackle spring rains and trips in tip-top shape. Here are two key spring break car care tips to get you and your car ready for your well-earned break.
- Check Your Tires: You should check your tire pressure in the springtime as cold weather typically manipulates their air pressure levels. If any of your tires are low, you should fill them up to the recommended PSI (found in your owner’s manual), as keeping your tires appropriately filled also helps provide better gas mileage. You should also check the treads on your tires and make sure they are not overly worn—you’ll want good treads for maximum traction while driving in spring and in the rain.
- Check Fluid Levels: At the beginning of each season, you should check your car’s fluid levels. This includes checking your oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield wiper fluid. In general, upkeeping these levels creates a better driving experience, and you’ll definitely want your windshield wipers performing well for the spring weather. While you’re at it, why not consider a new pair of windshield wipers?
