Fall would not be complete without a visit to a pumpkin patch. Whether you’re looking for perfect jack-o-lantern fodder or a nice plump pumpkin for piemaking, an autumnal trip to your nearest pumpkin patch makes the season what it is. If you aren’t sure where to look, check out these family-friendly pumpkin patches nearby.
Honey Haven Farm is right in our backyard in Ashland, and it features a festival that runs on the weekends through Oct. 28. You and your family can participate in a long list of fall-inspired activities. Meander through the 8-acre corn maze; feast on pumpkin ice cream, homemade apple dumplings, and sandwiches; hop aboard the horse-drawn wagon headed for the pumpkin patch; visit the animals in the small barnyard zoo; and fling a pumpkin out of a slingshot.
The city of Wooster is about 20 miles from Ashland in Wayne County, which lends to some prime fall foliage viewing on your drive over. Plus, Wooster is home to Ramseyer Farms, which boasts a great selection of pumpkins you can pick right from the patch or purchase from the Country Store. Ramseyer Farms features fun for the whole family with activities including two giant corn mazes, Spudway pedal carts, hayrides, a jump pad, hide & slide hill, a rope maze, and the Little Farm Hands Play Fort.
