2015’s Looking Safe with New Chevy Top Safety Picks

2015’s Looking Safe with New Chevy Top Safety Picks

Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tests each available model for safety and rates them accordingly. Given that we are about to enter a brand new year, the IIHS just released its latest list of ultra-safe cars, and we’re thrilled to see four Chevy Top Safety Picks on the list.

Chevy Top Safety PicksThe vehicles in question are the Spark, Volt, Malibu, and Equinox. In order to qualify for this accolade, vehicles must score either a “good” or “acceptable” rating in the small overlap front crash test, and a “good” rating in four other crash tests–moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints.

It looks like the industry as a whole will have a much safer 2015. The latest Top Safety Pick list named 71 models compared to just 39 models in 2014.

Jeff Boyer, GM vice president, Global Vehicle Safety, commented, “Consumer metric programs such as IIHS Top Safety Pick and NHTSA NCAP provide our customers with information to make comparisons across vehicle manufacturers for a given market segment. Having these four vehicles named 2015 IIHS Top Safety Picks is a great achievement.”
