You love your car and you love the environment. Thankfully, you don’t have to pick and choose! Here are some green car tips that will let you save the environment and save some gas money.
Don’t just slam on the brakes or slam on the gas at stoplights. If you gradually decelerate and accelerate, you will burn less gas. A way to keep your foot off the gas pedal (and to keep from burning gas) is to use cruise control whenever possible.
Your tire pressure can affect how much gas you burn. You can improve your gas mileage by 10 cents per gallon if you just maintain proper tire pressure.
Be sure to keep your gas cap sealed or replace it if it is cracked. If you have a loose or damaged gas cap, you might be losing gas vapors, which wastes your fuel and increases gas emissions.
Reducing the weight of your car will help cut down on gas emissions. Try cleaning out some of the extra cargo from your trunk or the interior of your car. Try keeping only what you want in the car to reduce the load.
Now get out there and start saving gas!
